Here is a site that monitors prices of CPUs and RAM: members.home.com

It measures price of CPU's per MHz, availability weighted. Here is an example of changes within last 4 weeks:

Date Pentium IIIE Athlon Athlon / PiiiE
05/04/00 0.555 0.389 70%
06/01/00 0.452 -19% 0.399 +3% 88%

It looks like Intel is getting more price competitive. We will see how this changes on Monday. Hopefully, AMD will have more MHz for sale.
