Maybe they could move from the NASDAQ to the Vancouver exchange while they're at it.

Blast at S. Africa Microsoft Office

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AP) - A small explosion Friday at Microsoft Corp.'s (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) offices in Johannesburg caused little damage, police said.

No one was injured, and there was no structural damage beyond broken windows, police spokesman Superintendent Willem de Villiers said.

A police bomb squad was investigating.

Only security personnel were at the office when the explosion went off before dawn, said Terry Annecke, a marketing manager for the Redmond, Wash.-based software giant.

``The security staff didn't see anything. They have been questioned by the police'' she said.

Anyone entering the courtyard must go through a security checkpoint, Annecke said.

The roughly 150 Microsoft staff members who normally work in the building, located in the northern Johannesburg neighborhood of Sunninghill, were asked to work from home or visit clients on Friday, Annecke said.

"Canadian MSFT" -- good ridance if they do go to Canada (or any other country for that matter). MSFT is certainly not a technological innovation resource, mind you it is a business model resource. If MSFT does move they will be relegated to 2nd tier. Remember, American Corporation's are provided privileged services from NSA and other governmental agencies on technological issues and information. In addition, financially there is no country in the world equivalent to the US.

Ask yourself this question, if you would. Do you think that MSFT's success is not correlated with its presence in the US? IMHO the answer to this is obvious; MSFT could never have become (nor can it maintain) its lofty position outside the US. The world's largest corporations are here for a reason. MSFT just has to play by the rules (which could very well be even more diffucult outside the US) which they seem to be unwilling to do (no matter what country they are in).

However, the thought of MSFT leaving to another country, IMHO, is very attractive to me. Other US companies would fill in quite nicely, without the ridiculous predatory practices, to fill any void left behind.

IMHO if they even attempt to use this as a bargaining point in this case, they'll get even harsher penalties which would be levied upon their US subsidiary. Also remember that their greatest revenue source is probably the US, the US government can make things pretty tough on them when and if they decide to "run" instead of cleaning-up their act.

HAHAHA this is hilarious.....people are lined up at the border to leave BC because of socialist oppression and some of the highest taxes in North America......it's unlikely any of MSFT employees would like to move here so the socialist government could steal 70% of their income
