Please give us a verifiable source for your assertions about Schwab changing their computing environment and the results of doing so.

Dear Steve: What am I going to do with you?? RMBS makes money?? Not so far that I know. They are totally at the whim of INTC and INTC is under pressure to quit backing them. Also DDSDRAM major threat. Only way RMBS will do well is if unit prices come WAY DOWN. Then what happens to the financials. Then you mention SCH and tell me they have had to implement ECONOMY servers with little scaleability indicating not expecting much growth??
If you come to Fla. dont come before December, it would be too hot for you otherwise. Look me up and we'll trade advice, you probably will get the better on that one. haha.
Finally, not sure what you mean about Canada. As for myself, I love it up there. Wish we had been successful in our attempts to colonize it. haha. JDN

aarghh...I dont have too much time to follow this thread these days but i cannot let this stand! "...Another company that makes money and would be a good investment is SCH. Now that they are putting more of their back end on new Windows servers, they are not having so much downtime and are well poised for some more great earnings growth."

What part of Schwab's infrastructure are these NT Servers your talking about a part of? i have spent 3 days a week at Schwab for the last 6 months in the Bay Area where they are based and the majority of their back end infrasture is IBM Mainframes and Hitachi Skylines. They use a lot of Sun for their Web Servers and trading site but they are committed to SNA, MQ,DB2 and all that IBM crapola but nevertheless they buy Sun workstations and Midrange servers by the boatload. I have not seen any of the Web infrastructure - or the part that a user would touch when using Schwabs site using NT or heard any plans that they are even considering it! NT is windows - sure it has a role at any big company but its no more significant than NT 3.51 was 5 years ago - Used to run Exchange and Office and installed in laptops or help desk applications.

We know Intel and IA-64 have taken over the computing world according to the script your reading from but making unsubstantiated, black and white claims like this wont make it happen any sooner and show that you dont have a clue how a "real" data center works. And by the way, I also do work in Intel's New DataServices Centers and I can tell you no matter how much they bad mouth Sun in the press they are buying so much Sun equipment that they could be one of Sun's Top 10 Accounts!!
