You've conveniently ignored the home buyer--aka "the consumer" part of the equation in the "price of my house rises from 1/2 to 2 million dollars" example.

How is it not inflationary from the perspective of the home buyer-consumer?

We could revert to the "old method" which takes actual home sales prices into account.

Using a "bad" methodology because a prior administration instituted it is no excuse for continuing to use a "bad" methodology....unless perhaps it's really "good"...good at masking INFLATION...good at keeping cost of living related adjustments to govt. payments at a minimum, eh?
