Scales better than Unix in some cases? What, Xenix? <g> --- Whatever, as good as W2K is, it's 'NEW' inside an industry that has learned (in many cases, the hard way) that 'old' (tried and true) is more than slightly preferable. I think it will be 6-12 months before folks are comforatable with this 'NEW' thing. Meanwhile, the old thing (Solaris/SPARC) will be scaling to 1,000 processors (and clustering) while running Windows services (Project Cascade) alongside open standards. --- All of this aside, it's my impressions as a plain ol' consumer that keep me from using my credit card on a MS/IIS web site. -JCJ

Dear david si:

Isn't it ludicrous to thing about what's going on at janet's house over the weekend?

janet: "Com'mon guys, we don't want jj to throw this back
again. I got scotty on the line, and he's coming
over...

klein: " You know jan, a handful of baby bills would have
been easier, and jj would have signed it...

scotty: "I don't think we're boxed in. I still say split it
up into 5 or 6 or 7 pieces...

boies: "Would you people SHUT-UP!?"

janet: "Hold-on, just hold on. I have an idea. Klein, get
Fidel on the phone. There's a large cuban group in
Vancouver..."

MUCH LATER ... SUNDAY, MIDNIGHT

boies: "I've had it! Let's get billy g in here right now.
Just maybe he'll go for this...

have a nice weekend!

Windows 2000 does scale better than Unix in some cases.

Read the latest brief from Microsoft. Notice how many mail servers they need to serve their campus with 5000?, 10000?, 20000? employees? What is the number of e-mail accounts per server? After you find those numbers, do you care to repeat about how well W2K scales? When will Hotmail switch over?(Oh, that's right, never, it won't work).
