I listen to many kinds of music because I'm called on to write and produce music in many genres. I love Andean music. The first time I ever heard it (that I can clearly recall) I was waiting for a date in the bar at Grand Central Station. From the other end of the main lobby, there echoed the most heavenly music--a small group of Peruvian musicians were playing there. Crash Test Dummies are enjoyable too--I like their lead singer's voice (very rare/unusual to hear a voice like that on the radio), and their lyrics are definitely not standard pop fare. Let's see, lately I've been listening to: David Ryan Harris (a friend & co-writer) Seal Thelonius Monk Michael Brecker Bill Evans Sting Peter Gabriel Me'Shell NdegeOcello Miles Davis Rickie Lee Jones William Orbit Cassandra Wilson Chemical Brothers . . . and a young girl, Charlotte Church, whose voice is profoundly mature given she's only 14 years old. I look forward to seeing her develop.
