Puts: buy them when your stock has suddenly run up strongly quickly.
Sell them when your stock is tanking big time and you are sure it will come back in the time frame your sold put is...
But beware of the sold put: I recently bought gmst at 70, brcm at 210, and qcom at 155. I only got 9 for the gmst put so effectively still bought it too high at 61, 29 for the brcm so bought it effectively at 181 and got 15 for the qcom so still bought the shares at 140! ohwell, someday that will seem cheap.
And I've never owned brcm before so that's a new experience.
LOL
