AU6413999A1:
SUBSTANTIALLY NON-TOXIC BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE MUCOSAL ADJUVANTS IN VERTEBRATE SUBJECTS
(This is the latest Duke University patent that may be a Joint Patent as explained previously in post #2710.)
A method of eliciting an immune response against an antigen in a vertebrate subject, the method comprising the steps of providing an antigen-adjuvant composition comprising the antigen and a substantially non-toxic adjuvant molecule having biological activity in mucosal tissues, and administering said antigen-adjuvant composition to the vertebrate subject in a manner such that initial contact occurs in mucosal tissue of the vertebrate subject, whereby an immune response is elicited. Cytokines are preferred adjuvants. Preferred cytokines are interleukin-1.agr. (IL-1.agr.) and interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß).

The patent [Duke Patent]above is a new approach to fighting the AIDS virus.

Is CIST really only worth about $18 million?

"JOINT PATENTS" shall mean any patent or patent application that,

First, has inventors from both CISTRON and DUKE, and, [I have not found any patents that meet this requirement.]

Second, relates to the FIELD, and,

Third, has claims protecting the use of a mutant form of IL-1b as an intranasal vaccine adjuvant, and,

Fourth, is based on an invention disclosed to DUKE in an Invention Disclosure Form which was assigned File # 1689 and which is incorporated in its entirety as Exhibit A of this AGREEMENT.

From CIST's 2/14/2000 10Q FILING

One of CIST's latest patents comes from the patent CIST got from Immunex as an out of court settlement.
