Hello jonathan,

I'll give you my feelings of the Alcatel/Newbridge issue. The sales to this company are stagnant, if not dropping. Revenues to "ala" accounted for only 14% of sales, which was down from 20% in the 3rd quarter of 2000. New customers are picking up the slack.

The gigabit Ethernet transceivers tripled from the 3rd quarter of 2000, and was up 43% sequentially, and 100% year-over-year. This accounted for 75% of total sales in the 4th quarter.

Cable TV (CATV) return path sub-system and Opticity revenues, and thus eps growth, should grow significantly in the 2nd half of FY 2001. The CATV product line has scored key customer wins with General Instruments (now MOT), Siecor, and Antec. The cable segment is growing significantly.

The Opticity product (combination of WDM, and edge switch functionalities, which utilize Fibre Channel) is currently in field trials. Companies involved in these trials include Storage Networks, and Allied Riser.

The future is bright, and the second half of FY 2001 should be very rewarding.

Just my opinion,

Respectfully, advalorem
