Motorola Adds Video To iDEN

Motorola wants to bring video options to its integrated digital enhanced network phones. The company made a deal with
multimedia software giant PacketVideo to put new applications on future iDEN handsets.

Next-generation phones will have streaming news and audio, sports highlight, entertainment clips as well as the standard
weather and traffic reports. Current iDEN phones combine the abilities of a phone, two-way radio, text pager and Internet
browser. The companies did not announce a target release date for the new phones.

In recent reports analysts have said devices that download photographs, video, music and games will proliferate. One that has
already been developed by Samsung Electronics combines portable television and mobile phone with a 1.8-inch LCD screen.
The Samsung SCH-M220, announced in December will first be released in the Korean market.
