Gary...he hasn't found a thing that would be of any use to us..sorry.

Fishing...soon, very soon. The "stubbies" are starting to show now in Juan de Fuca and it should just get better as the month progresses.

Just checking my fishing diary now and I see from past years the whole month of June is great for springs from Pedder Bay to up past Sooke.

"The majority of angling pressure in Juan de Fuca approaches is now turning to the trophy chinook salmon. June is host to the two largest Salmon Fishing
Tournaments in Juan de Fuca waters. The Wallaby Club competition, Saturday and Sunday, and the Alpine Juan de Fuca Invitational on Father's Day
weekend, June 17/18. Squeezed in between the two big events is the South Vancouver Island Rangers Salmon derby and barbecue, Saturday, June 10.

A few of the Juan de Fuca successes to fuel the enthusiasm for the weekend Derby include Mark Banning's 31 pound chinook at 80 feet off the Trap Shack,
Chris Clarke a 29 from Possession Point at 30 feet, both through Sooke Harbour Marina. Pedder Bay Marina highlighted Ralph Dunn weighing a pair of 32's,
Whirl Bay to Church, Terry Young a 22.8 and Trevor Zybyovsky of 'No Bananas Charters' a 25 fishing the Trap Shack reef. Gord Gavin fishing with a family
from Nebraska landed 18, 16, nine and seven pound chinooks. Steph Tripodi boated a 29 off Church and Brian Gibson a 28 off the Trap Shack. Brian's girls,
Chelsea, Megan and Melaney landed 20, 18 and 12 pound chinooks respectively. Shawn Magee and Cliff Moors registered 24 and 30 pound chinooks to
round out the Pedder highliner board.

Pacific Lions Marina featured Ken Heggen's 24, John Robbins 28, Dean Jordan 28, Bill Winters 26, Barbara Taylor 25 and Jim Fitzsimmons 30 and 12 pound
chinooks. Consistantly reports of big fish on and soundings tracking good quantity of big salmon in the Trap Shack and Beechey Head waters lay the
foundation for some exciting fishing for the Wallaby Salmon Derby competitors this weekend.
