Hope you have good freezer insulation or the power isn't out for long. Refrozen ice cream always tastes like crap with all those little crystals in it. -g-

I can't believe the newest problem on the car. The rubber hatch seals have this sticky grey goop that seal them to the sheet metal. The stuff is really a moisture sealant and somewhat of an adhesive, but not really an adhesive since it is still gooey (after all these years) and the rubber seals are molded to fit in and around the sheet metal channels. Apparently no one makes this stuff anymore! I even talked to the techs at 3M. The repair shops all use adhesives that really stick the rubber down and you destroy the rubber if you ever have to remove it.

Any ideas? Permatex makes a "non-hardening" gasket sealant so I looked at it, smelled it and it sure seemed like the old pipe thread dope. Called them up and they confirmed that's what it is. That stuff turns hard as a rock after a while unless it is sealed off (like in pipe threads). I have some left over butyl rubber strip caulk but would have to slice it into thin strips which is damn hard to do, if you have ever worked with the stuff. Maybe I could freeze it and try slicing ......... any suggestions most welcome. -g-

BTW, you are by the tobacco area. There is a shop here selling tobacco real cheap. I looked at a cigarette pack and it had the small print of US Tax Exempt, for Use Outside the US, on it. It has a State tax stamp on the cellophane wrapper, though. What the heck is going on and what tricks are they up to? The shop is a real live physical store - it's not some guy selling out of the trunk of his car.

Northern Virginia thunderstorms.. boy, how I remember those from my childhood. You could smell them coming. Huge raindrops. We'd be soaked before we could make it to the house. And afterwards, the air was so clean, and cooler. Knocked the humidity down in those sultry summers. Sigh. Not like the wimpy excuses for rain that Southern California offers. A heavy mist here and we get round-the-clock Storm Watch 2000 coverage.
