Re: "According to this Ctech Taiwan report , VIA will announce its second processor Samuel this month, way ahead of the previously expected schedule. VIA expects to mass produce Samuel in July to compete with Celeron for the entry-level market. More details on Samuel are provided by Shopping Guide Taiwan, which reveals that the Socket-370 Samuel runs at 133 Mhz FSB with 3DNow! support, and will debut at 500 to 700 Mhz"

Via (and Duron) will be competing against Timna, not Celeron and they'll have to do better than what's posted above to compete very effectively.

Re: "Also, do any of Intel's current chipsets (810/815/820/840/850) require .18 FAB space?"

No.
