here's one tweak i'm looking at right now, ed. you're probably familiar with it...

regedit.com

and the whole subject has me looking hard at various reg backup and restore routines. i plan on applying this tweak to a win95 machine that's running a us robotics 33.6 modem. seems like a good one to fool with <g3>

:)

dear avowed tweak freak....

"Avoid Accidental Registry Imports (Windows 9x and NT)"

"By default, if you double-click on a file with a '.REG' extension the file will be imported into the system registry. You can change the default so it opens the file for editing instead."

regedit.com

your thoughts... or anyone's... on the above tweak are appreciated!

[edit: i just made the change in explorer. easy enough to do, and i think it's valid. plus you can still import by selecting 'merge'. this eliminates a possible oops.]
