This thread is fortunate to have three high powered thinkers that take thoughts to places and limits most others have not the road maps to guide one so that a travel can be made. This post is just done for fun. I hope no personal attacks are found or obtained. This is a Off Topic Post, so please eXit if shoe fits. Which is good, as they are nice enough to send back to us postcards of sorts so that we may examine and experience stuff we would not normally have the opportunity to obtain. At a distance we have to do it, but then at times we are glad not to been there actually, so we see this method as having a builtin safety device. Now imagine as I have, and to some I understand very well that some think with horror to the thought that they may think as I have, but lets continue and hope for the best rather than expect the usual from I. My wondering was a what if I could have a science fiction type instrument that could place the minds of Ron Reece, Hutch and Rarebird into a single brain so that only their each's mental ability was deposited into a single thinking entity. No history or memory type stuff arrived, only their combined knowledge of information of the type of science, literature, etc with no personal stuff. A single person with a single personality formed and shaped by the three mental abilities melted and well mixed together to create one brain. So as not to confuse with extraneous stuff like looks and heights, lets just create a brain inside a sterile glass jar and leave it at that. Most are wondering where I am taking this, and for those not wanting to know, then please stop reading. It started with me going to the following web site.absolutvodka.com I passed the age test and saw great imagery/art.panushka.absolutvodka.com But the next page link took me to where I could only imagine a Rarebird+Hutch+RonReece could go. Out of Control is copyrighted 1994 by Kevin Kelly. This book is published by Addison-Wesley. "Because reading online is tiring, you have my permission to print it out for your personal use. But I can save your printer some trouble. I will print and bind all 230,000 words, and mail them to you for a small fee." For the easy way out: Kevin Kelly's homepage TABLE OF CONTENTS THE MADE AND THE BORN Neo-biological civilization The triumph of the bio-logic Learning to surrender our creations ... one can extract the logic of Bios out of biology and have something useful. Although many philosophers in the past have suspected one could abstract the laws of life and apply them elsewhere, it wasn't until the complexity of computers and human-made systems became as complicated as living things, that it was possible to prove this. It's eerie how much of life can be transferred. So far, some of the traits of the living that have successfully been transported to mechanical systems are: self-replication, self-governance, limited self-repair, mild evolution, and partial learning. We have reason to believe yet more can be synthesized and made into something new. Yet at the same time that the logic of Bios is being imported into machines, the logic of Technos is being imported into life. The root of bioengineering is the desire to control the organic long enough to improve it. Domesticated plants and animals are examples of technos-logic applied to life. The wild aromatic root of the Queen Anne's lace weed has been fine-tuned over generations by selective herb gatherers until it has evolved into a sweet carrot of the garden; the udders of wild bovines have been selectively enlarged in a "unnatural" way to satisfy humans rather than calves. Milk cows and carrots, therefore, are human inventions as much as steam engines and gunpowder are. But milk cows and carrots are more indicative of the kind of inventions humans will make in the future: products that are grown rather than manufactured..... Note: ==== (1) above is just a snipping frompanushka.absolutvodka.com (2) The word Bios used above is a computer reference, as follows. BIOS = Basic Input Output System, and in a 1/2 gata nut shell the bios is a collection of small programs of which some are located on a special memory type that is read only so that they are always present and are run just after you power up your pc. They get the ball rolling so that the operating system can be read from the hard drive and placed in memory, and as a means to allow software to talk with the hardware stuff.
