Try putting in some new fake wood from a company called Advanced Environmental Recycling Technology. AERTA on the Naz. Oh sorry I couldn't help myself being a shareholder and such. :-)
Many of the commercial docks around here are switching to it. They make it from old soda bottles and it doesn't warp or rot. It's a bit more expensive initially but it saves you repair and replacement costs in the long run.
