Yes ... if i wasn't going out i might step over there and gently inform c. horn that latinos tend not to remember Reagan nearly as fondly as he does ... especially the families of the dead or tortured ones.

That about sums up my politics as well ... in Canada we have more choices than just two parties [which means the Liberals pretty much always get in] ... i actually heard a guy named Keith Martin speak on the radio today, worthy of a close look imho, a fiscal conservative in a moderate way while a laissez-faire social libertarian ... he's going for the leadership of one of the non-Liberal parties ... but social freedoms goes against the core beliefs of the grassroots of that party, so some other turkey will be their leader ... so i'll be back to completely torn again, and yes - voting against the worst more than anything.

In the 60s and 70s there was a Rhino party, they were great, you could vote for them and make a statement ... they were like the bunch who ran a pig for US president, only funnier ... cartoons for campaign literature, with text in french but it was easy to get the idea ... wonder what became of them [prolly all stockbrokers now]

We aren't faced here or in M‚xico with the question of Ruling the Planet, so the foreign policy factors just come down to voting in somebody who doesn't much fall on their face when abroad [our current PM had a hard time in Israel a while ago, shoulda read up on it first, lol] ... well i'm off to dance with, among others, cubanas ... why is it we never see black faces in the news fotos of the Eli n coverage and yet more than half of the cubanos i know here and in M‚xico are black, or at least moreno? ... one of life's mysteries, i suppose ... well, cheers

I pick the party or people who frighten and offend me the most and then I vote for whatever or whoever opposes them.

Hi, X. I agree completely. I have used your approach in the past but have recently modified it somewhat. I offer for your and Mr. X's consideration my new approach to Presidential voting.

What I do is follow the polls and pundits to see which party is likely to control Congress, particularly the House. Then I hold my nose and vote for "the other guy" for President.

I think that splitting the government is the best way to foil the extremists. It minimizes the creation of new programs, yet it allows the few really important things that have bipartisan support to get done.

There are a couple of problems with indiscriminately voting for the other guy, mainly with foreign policy and judicial nominations. Another concern is that there's a lot of money wasted in a government that is spinning its wheels. But I consider that a small price if nothing really stupid gets done.

And this is a country with so much going for it...
