Cisco Systems, China Unicom Sign Communications Services Pact

San Jose, California, June 2 (Bloomberg) -- Cisco Systems Inc., the No. 1 maker of computer-networking equipment, said it signed a two-year agreement with China United Telecommunications Corp. to develop new communications services in China.

Financial terms weren't disclosed. The alliance, an extension of an existing relationship between the two companies, is intended to help China Unicom offer new services and speed them to market.

China Unicom, the second-largest telecommunications carrier in China, offers network communications, long-distance telecommunications, wireless paging and mobile-phone services.

The shares of San Jose, California-based Cisco rose 3 7/16 to 64 3/8 on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The agreement was announced after the close of regular U.S. trading.
