Last night I attended the San Diego Regional Economic Development dinner and George Gilder was our guest speaker. First of all, thank you George; it was a distinct honor and pleasure to hear your insights. I will attempt to summarize what George had to say; forgive me if I miss some of his points; I know that I am not in his league. George reiterated his strong belief in CDMA and Qualcomm. He assured his San Diego audience that if we thought things were great in San Diego now, we haven't seen anything yet. The future of Qualcomm and all it's CDMA technology companies in San Diego would be brighter than any of us could imagine. He talked at some length about Globalstar. He said that the heavy present handsets would get much smaller and lighter, meaner and leaner as each new generation of handset came out. This will happen sooner than later. Also, the costs will come down. He said all of us baby boomers would be driving around in our SUV's and boats with globalstar antennas on top. He reiterated what a great technology globalstar has and sounded positively upbeat about the future. He mentioned the two scarcities we suffer from today are time and the span of life. He talked about how everything today wastes our time, most of all tv and all the advertising connected to it. He mentioned when wireless gets streaming video off the internet, tv and all it's related advertising industry will be history. He talked a lot about bandwidth and how abundant it will be how it will describe our new paradigm. Qualcomm and Globalstar were the two companies he directly mentioned and he was absolutely positive about their bright futures. At the end he answered a question about Greenspan. He stated that Greenspan is off the mark. We are in a period of material abundances and increasing productivity and prices are being pushed lower, not higher. He said Greenspan is not accurately gauging the increases in productivity. In closing, he said that the next 10 years will bring tremendous upside surprises. Innovation is always a surprise or it would not be an innovation. That is why all these economists and prognosticators are always so negative and always miss on the downside the tremendous growth in the economy because they do not factor in all the innovations that are always a surprise. Thank you again George; it was an honor and thrill to see and meet you in person
