Elllk, that is certainly a nice idea, but I see no way to draw the conclusion. It is anthropomorphic. We have no way of deducing the mentality of aliens.
In our ecosystem, the top slots tend to be occupied by predators. It is very plausible to me that on a galactic scale it is no different. A hostile, advanced alien species might not necessarily consider us delicious - but might treat us as something like mildew and douse is in cosmic Clorox.

The fact that it is so quiet out there can beinterpreted in three ways. (There may be some I've missed!)
1) We really are alone in this corner of timespace.
2) It's a jungle out there, and survival means being quiet or being very well defended.
3) Our current level of civilization is a brief interval, like waking up. Very soon we'll leave this planet and, in a fit of environmental awareness, remove any trace that we were here. Then we'll learn the quiet way from our older cousins in galactic society - and pledge to remain invisible and inaudible to other infant societies.
Heck, we might even meet our old homeys the dinosaurs! lol
