Branding very MUCH fits with open systems. Sun can make Java open. Sun can make Java free. Sun can give it all away to BEA and BEA isn't happy because the coffee cup logo belongs to Sun? --- As a SUNW shareholder, I find BEA's position outrageous and either out to screw SUNW shareholders or they're just *that stupid. --- The brand ("Java" - the word, the logo) is the one piece of intellectual property that Sun NEEDS to keep. Because Sun has this great brand, it's able to be OPEN every other way. --- I find the minority position of IBM and BEAS Java politics with regard to 'brand' to be decidedly un-hip, rather ugly and a direct slap in the face to SUNW shareholders. I hope iPlanet and the rest of the Java partners goes on to kick their asses. -JCJ
