However, Q holds more than 50% of the CDMA 2000 system.

Matters not at all. QCOM doesn't get paid per individual royalty. What Q has are essential patents without which there is no mobile CDMA. Period.

CDMA INFORMATION ON 3G MARKET DIRECTIONS WILL SPILL out into the press June 13th to June 16th as industry leaders present at the Fifth Annual CDMA World Congress in Hong Kong China.CDMA2000 AND WCDMA will be presented.Tuesday June 13th Dr.Irwin Jacobs presents "Future directions and opportunities for the wireless world.Craig Farrill,Chief Technology Officer for Vodafone Airtouch presents Enabling the next generation of mobile wireless applications-strategies and opportunities bring together telecom and IT industries.These are just a few of the opening presentations as there are lots of them all on 3 G.Bottom line lots of heavies in China at a very sensitive time.Should be good as the press descends on these CDMA industries heavy weights ,Oh yes Nokia is presenting on Thursday June 15th.Meanwhile in San Francisco another big conference The IEEE International Conference on 3G will be occurring June 14th through 16th.QUALCOMM is one of the Platinum sponsors.Mark Epstien Sr Vice President will be presenting CDMA and Internet Access on Wednesday June 14th.William Lee Chief Scientist at Vodafone Airtouch will be presenting A Total Solution for the Wireless IP Core Network.Oh yes Ericsson will be presenting after QUALCOMM.Lots of potential deals could be announced during the course of these two important and high profile CDMA intense conferences.Pretty cool to see these industry giants that once separated themselves to there respective GSM and CDMA conferences now sharing the same space under the same umbrella of the next big wave 3G which is CDMA2000 and WCDMA AND QUALCOMM clearly the most powerful contender under the umbrella.

Ibexx ---curious why China is raising 5 billion dollars for this new system ( W-CDMA )which I assumed is not available yet much less tested on the open market ? As an investor why would I put that kind of money in their current GSM system when I know it will be discarded in two to three years ( fact not fiction )? As an investor I sure would not loan China Unicom 5 billion to sit in the bank to draw interest why they make up their mind .
The FUD is ridiculous ---
