I agree the Warrior mindset helped us to survive and fulfill the injunction to be fruitful but our species has dominated the planet for a while now. We certainly have the ability and resources to assure our survival and, further, to flourish in the richness of our own lives and in that of our society (understanding this to obviously include respect for our planet and other life, within reason--the latter to say sometimes Clorox has its place. We now, however, constitute the main threat, on this planet, to our own survival and to the achievement of more enriching lives, partly as a function of the continuing reliance on the Warrior mindset at an intensity beyond any level now necessary. Your notion of active standby is fine with me but for too many of us or for too many of our institutions (speaking in a catholic context) the standby qualification is not active.
