VH1's 'The List' Goes Live With Legendary Mock-Rockers Spinal Tap in Special One-Hour Edition Premiering Thursday, June 22 at 10:00 P.M. (ET/PT) Heavy Metal Gods Nigel Tufnel, David St. Hubbins and Derek Smalls Are Joined by Drummer Mick Fleetwood In Special Live Episode of Hit VH1 Series, Hosted by Fran Drescher as Bobbi Flekman MGM In Association With STUDIOCANAL to Re-release 'This Is Spinal Tap' In Theaters and on Special Edition DVD/VHS NEW YORK, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The loudest rock band of all time, Spinal Tap is coming together for their long-awaited reunion to debate a topic (yet to be revealed) on a special edition of VH1's hit series "The List." The live, one-hour show premieres Thursday, June 22 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The group will perform one of their own songs at the end of the show. Spinal Tap guitarist Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest), singer David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean) and bassist Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) will be joined on "The List" by drummer and rock legend Mick Fleetwood, the latest in a long line of Tap percussionists to face certain doom. "The List" will be hosted by Fran Drescher, who played PR agent Bobbi Flekman in the classic rock mockumentary "This Is Spinal Tap." Spinal Tap's relationship with Mick Fleetwood began several years ago with one of rock's more bizarre episodes: Spinal Tap placed an ad which read, "Drummer Died, Need New One," in The New York Times. Among the five-hundred hopefuls who showed up for auditions at the L.A. Coliseum was none other than Mick Fleetwood, who used an alias and wore a flame-retardant silver outfit to mask his identity until the audition was over. As "List" panelists, the members of Spinal Tap each will reveal his own top three picks for the topic, then go head-to-head over their choices, with Drescher serving as referee. The live studio audience and VH1.com online voters across America will also weigh in with their own opinions, and help to whittle the list down to one. Drescher will also field live telephone call-ins and read live e-mail comments during the course of the show. Director Rob Reiner's hit debut film, "This Is Spinal Tap" has been a cultural phenomenon since its release in 1984. A riotous ersatz documentary about aging British heavy-metal rockers on a calamitous tour of America, "This Is Spinal Tap" spawned its own reality when the band "reunited" in 1992 to release the album "Break Like the Wind," embark on real concert tour, and return to the screen in "The Return of Spinal Tap." A full-on revival of all things Spinal Tap is beginning this summer. "This is Spinal Tap," the classic rockumentary Newsweek calls, "The funniest movie ever made about rock and roll," is being re-released in theaters and on special edition DVD/VHS by MGM Home Entertainment, in association with European film studio, STUDIOCANAL. Other activities include the debut of a much anticipated, newly recorded single; Listen.com promotion, college screenings, as well as a star-studded Hollywood fanfest at the famed House of Blues. Arriving on September 12, the videocassette of "This Is Spinal Tap" will be available for $14.95 with the DVD priced at $29.98. Prior to the film's availability in stores, the film "This Is Spinal Tap" will be re-released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, through a special arrangement with STUDIOCANAL, in select theaters across the nation. In addition to hitting the road for an upcoming concert at the House of Blues in Hollywood, Spinal Tap will be the subject of an episode of VH1's "Where Are They Now?" series, airing later this summer.
