A disciplined stop-loss strategy is often the best repair that one can effect. I think it really depends on the difficulty of unwinding a position versus hedging.

The first loss is always the best one to take. <GGG>

Dave ~ Ask Herm how much hair turned grey from USRobotics in spring 1997. It blistered most of us eventually, but what an exciting stock it was.

A fine service would be to research the thread links for Herm's USRX 'real-life repair strategies' and present them here again. Then you would understand Casaubon's excellent advice more clearly.

McMillan text addresses too, but tactics are mixed in with several different topics, such as put option buying/ follow-up actions, and you'd have to search.

Implementing a stop loss strategy is such a logical solution. Why is it such a difficult discipline to aquire?! Our keyboards should administer a 200 volt shock whenever we trade without using a stop.
