Is webramp just another name for shotgun modem

Understand first that I dont actually have either one. I'm waiting on cable (coming soon...)

A shotgun takes two modems and *one* isp that is specially set up to handle blending the data streams back together *before* its sent to the net.

A webramp is a router. It can use multiple modems and *multiple* isp's that each take their own seperate path through the internet to reach the destination. There is a lot more redundancy there. However I do have some doubts about how well really it can work in a situation where the data is streaming continuously from a single location.

Knyyt,
I noticed your question about WebRamp. I used WebRamp up until three weeks ago when I was finally able to get cable modem. I had three modems bonded using multilink ppp. It worked very well with Cyber. I had only one ISP and had to have a special set up with them so that I had two dedicated IP addresses, one for my router and one for my workstation. This set up worked very well until my ISP moved and changed modems. Then it all fell apart on their end. Consequently you need to use WebRamp with an ISP who understands how it works. Otherwise you will pull your hair out trying to explain it to someone else. If you don't have any other options, then I recommend it because it did work, but make sure your ISP gets you set up as a branch office connection versus an internet connection or you will have trouble connecting to some websites.
