Lucent Places $3.7-Million Order for Digital Lightwave's OC-192 Network Information Computers
BUSINESS WIRE - June 05, 2000 08:48
CLEARWATER, Fla., Jun 5, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Multi-Unit Order to Provide Field Installation Diagnostics for Lucent's WaveStar DWDM System

Digital Lightwave(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:DIGL), a leading provider of innovative optical networking products and technology, today announced that Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU) has placed a multi-unit order for the company's OC-192 Network Information Computer(R) (NIC(TM)) -- the NIC 10G(TM). Digital Lightwave expects to commence shipment of the order, valued at approximately $3.7 million, during the current quarter.

Lucent plans to use the NIC 10Gs for worldwide field installation testing of its WaveStar(TM) OLS 400G DWDM system. The NIC 10Gs will support installation and support of the WaveStar network infrastructure. The WaveStar OLS 400G is a modular 80-channel Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) optical transmission system that dramatically increases fiber capacity and flexibility for global optical networks.

"Lucent's order provides a strong validation of market demand for our new portable OC-192 product," said George Matz, executive vice president for Global Sales at Digital Lightwave. "Lucent is one of a growing number of market leaders that look to Digital Lightwave to meet their requirements for portable and integrated diagnostic tools for DWDM and other high-speed technologies as they deploy their optical networks."
