Jorj,

The facts are the facts. QCOM - whether directly or via NOK, or MOT or any other vendor providing CDMA technology (upon which 3G is based) will benefit. I consider this another attempt by the Chinese to play the volatility in this stock or - like you said - to negotiate a better deal. In the end QCOM holds the patents and they will eventually benefit. The world is going 3G - china doesn't want the extra cost and complexity of needed gateways to connect to the rest of the world or to be late on application development because of using a different standard.... I don't think.

So, while I too sold my QCOM position on Friday at $72 I am thinking that if gets to the low $60's I may have to re-enter. At $60 QCOM trades 55 this years expected earnings and 43 times next years. They had 80% earnings growth last year and are projected to do only 30% next year.. I see a low ball by the analysts. Forward PE is probably closer to 35 if you assume a $60 price and 50% earnings growth. Remember - there isn't much overhead in royalties.
