On the Global Crossing thread a few months ago I mentioned how I thought the company that controls the digital distribution network to the Theaters will have a lot of power to influence public thought. The large screen has more impact than television, and the ability to run live events over the network, such as sporting events, concerts, and live news feeds etc.. would be a great draw for audiences willing to pay a premium to get in. A large distribution network of digital theaters that could demand a high premium while their delivery costs plummet, could result in more and more investment in elaborate theaters with better digital equipment to produce interactive 3D content, and maybe turn some theaters into rides like Star Wars at Disneyland where the room moves to make the experience feel more real. It will be interesting to watch how the digital distribution of high end content from the Camera to the Projector evolves and affects Movie Theaters and Virtual Amusement Parks.
