I don't know. During the last inflation cycle, I was working in industry and we were in boom, bust cycles..one year there were big lay-offs and the hiring like heck the next year. Certainly during that period of time salaries were going up no matter what was happening. Things were different during that time since executives were paid salaries and were motivated to move the salaries of the total corporate population up including their own. Now the boys and girls at the top are getting their increases in income from stock options, which will motivate them to keep a lid on salary increases.
