<These examples really make you open your eyes to what is happening in this "W-CDMA2000" fiasco. Intentionally misreporting to lead the Europeans and the US along is definitely the order of the day. I just hope I. Jacobs doesn't blink and give up something for nothing. >

Don't worry. Notice how Irwin didn't come back from China waving a piece of paper and saying 'Peace in our Time'. He has always said we should not count on China sales until we get the sales [or words to that effect]. Which means, to use the salesman's expression - don't count on the sale until the money is in the bank. He is giving the Chinese government and Unicom a very clear message. He is very prepared to go to China, negotiate and form agreements, but they have NOT captured his dependence on those agreements. So if they abrogate the agreement, he will shrug his shoulders and carry on with other business, leaving them to the tender mercies of GSM, Nokia, Ericsson and the like.

Of course, Unicom and China are wanting 3G CDMA and they see that SK Telecom has it nearly ready. They will buy that!

Q! is in the box seat and it is amazing to me that people are dumping the stock because of the 'mess in China'. It's the same as they dumped it because Korea allegedly fell off the map in 1997/98. Surprise, surprise, Korea did NOT fall off the map and has gobbled CDMA phones by the million ever since. China will do the same.

Samsung and 3Com, among others, are ready to sell! China is [nearly] ready to buy. A good combination.

Ho hum!
