Chaz,

<< The action is with CDMA 2000 in Korea >>

Right now. Japan next, one would assume. cdma2000 in either case. I am most interested (as I am sure you are) in the Qualcomm, IDO, Hitachi, High Data Rate (HDR) technology field trial that will begin this year there.

<< And then China? >>

Maybe. Right now I think China is regrouping and will be in the planning process for a bit.

It occurs to me that the evolved SK Telecom architecture could be used in China.

Did you catch this interesting post on TD-SCDMA here?

<< But it is all a matter of time, no? >>

With China ... a lot of time. A wild card, truly.

<< So the Nokia "announcement" is of historical interest - i.e. future historians will note it >>

This "historian" has noted it now.

We have been bogged down in figuring out how to bring 3G to market. Initial 3G network implementations will seem pretty crude when we look back 5 years from now. The network of the future will look a lot different than today. Fun to observe is it not? Right up your alley.

I am looking forward to Vodafone's plans unfold and how they reconcile large CDMA nets with large GSM nets and evolve to an IP network. Meaningful implementations of wireless data are in their infancy.
