Pompsander: The Simm Tester article from Friday PM alludes to a convergence of anti-RMBS interests between the media and the memory industry, culminating in the DDR conference late last month. I am intrigued, because I still must still decide whether to hold, buy more, or sell my RMBS shares, as I have every business day since June 1998. Intrigued, because it has been hard to make sense-of / accept-why a VAPORWARE known as DDR has gotten so much press. A blast of hot methane nearly every day for the past 18 months. And the problem with methane is, when heated, it is prone to explosive combustion, singeing all those in the vicinity. Many individual shareholders are not aware that now we have a very powerful IT media group, CMP Media, supporting DDR under the guise of wanting to "spread the truth" - to the extent that it COSPONSORED the DDR summit. See my postMessage 13828395 About CMP:cmp.com <<With U.S. publications focusing on computers, electronics, information technology and the Internet, CMP Media is the only technology publisher serving the entire technology spectrum: those who build it, those who sell it, and those who use it. These world-renown brands are supported by a rich menu of products and services in other media, both here and abroad. Then there is the memory industry association created specifically to counter Rambus, Advanced Memory International. ami2.com It is composed of a who's who of memory suppliers, including Micron, Fujitsu, NEC, Hitachi, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, IBM, Vanguard, Hyundai, Samsung, and Infineon, and was created April 9, 1999. The first Press release dated April 30, 1999. From the start, it appears to be uni-dimensional in purpose / scope: ".... finalizing PC133 introduction and accelerating Double Data-Rate SDRAM adoption.."ami2.com The FUD continues to fly, and the stakes are getting higher and higher. There is a lot of money lined up against RDRAM / INTC, and a lot of unscrupulous souls out there. It appears that every day, we are more and more dependent on: 1. the opinion of the Court, as to whether or not this group has aggregiously STOLEN Rambus IP, and 2. the staying power of INTC. >> US$3 - 4 Billion invested in RMBS memory to date (my guesstimate). It all makes one feel very small (g). BP
