Can anyone decipher this press release from Nanovation. I understand the premise of the release, which is, products are available to ship. What I don't know is whether the products are anything to be excited about. Thanks.

NANOVATION TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES COMPLETE EDFA PRODUCT LINE FOR THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY

Products are Available for Mass Shipment Today

ATLANTA -- June 6, 2000 -- Nanovation Technologies, an innovative pioneer of integrated optical technology, today announced it has launched its complete product line of high powered, gain flattened erbium doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) at the SUPERCOMM show in Atlanta. This product family, which is available for shipment today in mass quantities, enables system manufacturers to offer high optical output power for long haul, metro, DWDM, SONET and SDH transmission systems as well as CATV applications.

Standard product family features include very low power consumption, wide operating temperature range, low noise figure, Bellcore 1312-CORE qualification and ISO compliance. Customized products are available to meet specific requirements and optional features include internal microprocessor-controlled alarm and status monitoring.

"Nanovation is launching one of the most complete EDFA product lines available in the world today at SUPERCOMM," said G. Robert Tatum, president and chief executive officer of Nanovation. "These products are unparalleled in terms of performance. This new product family supplements Nanovation's existing silica and indium phosphide product offerings. We can provide short lead times from order to delivery and are well positioned to meet the industry's unbridled need for EDFA products."

Nanovation's EDFA products are available in volume quantities today and include the following product lines:

GM Series EDFAs are traditionally used for metro and CATV applications operate in C-Band (1530 to 1565 nm) and are housed in one of the industry's smallest form factor packages

MD Series EDFAs are used for SONET, SDH and metro applications operate in C-Band (1530 to 1565 nm) and incorporate an internal microprocessor and RS-232 two-way interface

GS Series of EDFAs are used for SONET, SDH and metro application operate in C-Band

MW Series EDFAs are used for DWDM applications, operate in Red Band (1545 to 1561 nm, 16 channel) or Full Band (1535 to 1561 nm, 32 channel) and incorporate an internal microprocessor and RS-232 two way interface

GW Series of EDFAs are used for DWDM applications operate in Red Band (1545-1561 nm, 16 channel) or Full Band (1535 to 1561 nm, 32 channel)
