Ausdauer, re: SanDisk and Golf

I bought an MP3 player for my wife, and you asked how I liked it.

I've got to admit that it's been a nasty experience, but not because of SanDisk. After I installed the software and the card reader, I'm having all sorts of PC problems. When I shut down the computer, I get a "fatal" error message, and have to just power off. When I re-start the computer, after going through a disk scan (because the PC was shut down improperly), the keyboard isn't functional until I disconnect the card reader, connect the key board, then reconnect the card reader. It's a major PITA. I understand this is presently "early adapter" stuff, but I think at least this company (I-JAM) has a long way to go to be consumer friendly (or at least not distructive).

A few points on SanDisk from a first time consumer perspective:

- Damn those little flash cards are expensive. For a MP3 player that is convenient, you should really be able to load over an hour of music, and that's probably 64 MB. IMHO, too much money for too little storage at this point. If MP3's are going to be a mainstream consumer product, the price of the cards has to come down by more than 50%.

- When I tried to put a 4th song, less than 2 MB, on a card with more than 2 MB of space, it said it was full. When it says 16 MB does it really mean 16 MB?

But, bottom line, my wife loves it. Sound is great, just short of CD quality. My opinion, this product has a great future, but it's future is still in the future for most consumers.

On golf... Ausdauer, you are really a glutton for punishment. You own a frustrating stock and now you are taking up the most frustrating game for a "breather and a break". Just remember to keep your head down and swing easy, good advice for golf and owning SanDisk.
