There is some statistical effect going on here since not many oldsters are working in mines or hormone crazed teen age boys doing stoopit stuff. But if you look at the raw numbers on a year over year basis you will also see that the increases are due to the simple fact that people are living longer. The most obvious reason is health care, of course.

Thanks, interesting chart. HealthCare industry likes to claim credit extended life expectancy in the 20th century... I'm just wondering if it's not happening DESPITE our lifestyles.
