The news about the Korean's cdma2000 seems to be quite significant, giving that it's the first such installation:

"SK Telecom of Korea in the world's first cdma2000 1X network.
The new network from 3Com and Samsung will enable SK Telecom customers to access mobile data services at speeds of up to 144 kbps"

Also China's Unicom said :

"Unicom will push ahead with longer-term plans to use a successor technology, called CDMA2000, the executive was quoted as saying..... (the) new technologies will make both (GSM and CDMA) obsolete in the next few years."
