LightPath to supply collimators for Corning switch

5/31/2000 Fiber player Corning Incorporated (Corning, NY) has awarded primary supply contract to LightPath Technologies Inc. (Albuquerque, NM) to provide customized collimators for Corning's wavelength selective switch (WSS). The initial order for the large beam collimator assembly for the WSS is approximately $1.0 million and is scheduled for delivery over a six-month period from July 2000 thru December 2000.

Integrating gradient index glass components, the collimator creates a beam diameter several times larger than conventional collimators, while still maintaining high beam quality. Laser fusion technology enhances the thermal and environmental stability of the device.

LightPath manufactures its proprietary collimator assemblies and Gradium glass products at its headquarters in Albuquerque. The company's subsidiary, Horizon Photonics, manufacturers isolator products using its proprietary automation technology in Walnut, CA. LightPath has recently announced the opening of a second office in Warren, NJ for the purpose of development of various optical switch products.
