Remember the movie "Clash of the Titans" :)

This is where Cisco and their small IP portfolio get in trouble. Even though Alcatel has a formidable Legal department they actually don't win them all.

"Judge Denies Alcatel's Request for Hiring Injunction Against Startup Chiaro Networks

Chiaro CEO Says Company Is About Innovation, Not Litigation"

It's a good thing they are in federal court and not district court in front of Judge Folsom again. Ouch!

With the exception of the Chiaro win and a few others the big boys like Alcatel can throw their weight around and get their way. They can leverage one product to the benefit of another product, to the obvious detriment of companies with fewer options (Orkit). Is this anti competitive? Is it unfair practice? All I know is Orkit seems to be fighting for their future, not whining because they got a smaller piece of cake.

AIMHO

Cheers,

Milkman

ZO, do you see a similar pattern of conduct in ALAs allegation that Monterey raided ALA for key employees and technology and Nortel's allegation that ONI ( funded in large part by Cisco) raided Nortel for key employees and technology? Is this just a coincidence?
