Elmer, The AMD core is superior to the P-III core. The data pathway for the cache at 256 bits wide allows the lesser core to do very well. AMD does need to upgrade that pathway and I suspect they are doing it now. Lots of stuff to do, so little time to do it in.
This is where Intel has the financial depth to have a number of parallel horses in the race to AMD's one. Still AMD seems to still be beating the P-III in many areas so if and when they get a 256 bit cache path they will kick Intel in the ass....of course what does Intel have in heir stable?
