re: "But it is an invitation for Via to enter the market, and take away some of potential growth that is ignored by Intel and AMD"

The bottom line is Timna is targeted for the sub $500 PC. With a worldwide crunch for semiconductors and the stuff they go into companies will make sure they have all the stuff then need to make the higher priced and higher margin systems before they build the sub $500 system. Intel will now have Timna in the wings ready to go if this current capacity crunch frees up in 6mos (and all indicators are it will not). I'm not sure any system manufacturer is complaining about not having to deal with yet another set of inventory at this time of exploding growth, to the contrary the PC manufacturers may have had some input on this one. The bottom line is this "no material impact" may in become a big material impact on the upside. Maybe that is what Niles sees.
