Scumbria,

<AMD may well be manufacturing 1.5GHz samples, in 0.13u process. These will probably not be ready for production for another 6 months.>

This is my understanding too (except that it is more like 0.15). That's why I was talking about at least 3 or 4 months.

However, the grapevine on 1.2G was on the current process. The only logical reason to not introduce a new speed grade or two would be if someone big signed off on some corporate SKUs (in which case new speedbins at the current level of production may not be sufficient for a launch). But, I didn't see any business SKUs being announced, let alone high volume ones. There is something that doesn't addup and there are no leaks so far from the marketing side.

Scumbria,

I think I just put all the pieces together!

I had a similar theory: Message 13814102

RDM,
Re: Innsbruck, rumors from Germany and watercooler gossip

I think I may have an explanation: What we see in the market today (or June 5) is something that the designers and fabs were working on 3 to 6 months ago. Let's see what we can expect 3 to 6 months from now: Mustang core, shrink to .15u or even .13u, clock speeds in the neighborhood of 1.5 GHz, hopefully increasingly good yields.

This is what Innsbruck reported. So the difference is that what he is talking about is something they are placing in the pipeline now in Dresden, which will make it's way to market in 3 to 6 months.
