OKLAHOMA CITY, June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Joseph Cala, Chairman and CEO of
Cala Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: CCAA) today announced that extensive
groundwork for the Cala Corporation and B-Tec, Inc. of Italy alliance,
initially announced on June 5, 2000, has already been completed. Key
personnel, needed to assist in Sicily, have been identified and enlisted.
Preliminary marketing to distribute the battery packs in Italy, as well as
internationally, has been done. A financial analysis coupled with a detailed
business plan has also been completed. The initial configuration of the plant
assembly line will produce 4.5 million units. The production capability of
the plant will be upgraded to produce nine million units the second year.
Based upon this analysis, second year revenues are expected to be $36 million.
Today, Mr. Cala emphasized that the technology manufactured at the plant
in San Cataldo, Sicily will not only service the rechargeable battery needs of
the cellular phone industry. Mr. Cala stated that Cala Corporation and B-Tec
will also combine to reach the ever expanding power tool, medical implement,
toy and small motor rechargeable battery markets.
San Cataldo, Sicily has been chosen for plant construction so that Cala
Corporation can take advantage of substantial government incentives. The
plant is expected to employ more than 600 people, drawn mostly from the local
region. The plant will also create several hundred other jobs in the support
industries of transportation, distribution, packaging and advertising. Cala
Corporation intends to have a significant and beneficial impact on the local
economy, where unemployment rates climb as high as 40%. All manufacturing
equipment will be built in the United States then shipped to Italy for
assembly and installation. B-Tec has completed the design and drawings for
