<<it's a must read for serious Gorilla Gamers.>>

Entirely predictable. From the acknowledgments from Living on the Fault Line:

"On coming to grips with stock price and the valuation of technology stocks, Michael Mauboussin of Credit Suisse First Boston has been a continual inspiration and help. He continues to write some of the best essays on this subject, and I encourage interested readers to track them down." (p. xii)

Mike, I am printing them all for a little late night reading. Should solve my insomnia problem.

Seriously, looks very interesting.

Thread, I need a reading on folks view of QCOM now. I am a victim of FUD and can't, despite my efforts, quite get a grasp on the China thing, for example.

PM me if you feel it will be bloat, but I don't believe it would be bloatatious.

Here is Merlin's post which contains the URL for "Frontiers of Stragegy" by Michael Mauboussin that I referred to earlier this week:

Thanks to TMF Fuz at the Fool, I've begun reading an article explaining why business models based on the network effects inures to investors' benefit. I've just begun reading it and can tell that it's a must read for serious Gorilla Gamers. I intend to be asking questions about stocks I own relative to details in the report and would appreciate it if others could join me in reading the piece.
The piece is the most recent of a series of pieces published by Credit Suisse First Boston and authored by Michael Mauboussin, partner of Paul Johnson. The entire series can be found at capatcolumbia.com

To pique your interest, very early into the main content Mauboussin explains in the simplest but measured terms exactly why the value of network increases 100 times when the number of people using it increases only ten times. Similarly, if the number of users on the network increases 1000 times, the value of the network increases a million times. If you're not interested in understanding that, don't bother reading it. :)

Enjoy!
