Shares issued 4,544,081 Jun 15 close $0.45
Fri 16 Jun 2000 News Release
Mr. Harry Barr reports
First Canadian Messenger Service and VIP Courier Corp. will join Executive
Courier Services Ltd. as users of the WebDispatchers package delivery
software. Letters-of-intent have been signed with each company. The
same-day package-delivery industry consists of approximately 100,000
companies across North America, with combined annual revenues of
$82-billion (U.S.). Under an option agreement, CanAlaska Ventures Ltd. can
earn up to a 40-per-cent interest in WebDispatchers.
WebDispatchers has developed an easy-to-use Web-based system that utilizes
the latest in application-service-provider (ASP) concepts and Oracle
technology. Users require only a Web-browser and an Internet connection.
Pricing is done on a per-transaction basis allowing small package-delivery
companies access to state-of-the-art technology at a minimal cost. Tantalus
Communications (www.tantalus.com), under contract to WebDispatchers, will
begin Phase I testing next week, and implementation will begin in July.
Negotiations with other North American same-day companies are continuing.
In addition to WebDispatchers, CanAlaska has also invested in NewGurus.com
Inc., a new media company utilizing Internet technology to provide expert
opinion and analysis of news and current events. NewGurus has developed a
dynamic database-driven Web site that categorizes and centralizes opinions
and thoughts of a wide-ranging group of experts. Initially focused on areas
of finance and investment, plans exist for additional modules providing
trusted commentary in the areas of health and wellness, and lifestyles.
