You are making a lot of sense. The capacity constraints also exist in the memory market. It looks like prices on garden variety dram will also be headed up. Usually, this hurts the boxmakers profit margins but I see they are up today too. I doubt if there is a need for a low cost volume stimulating product in the near term.

I doubt if they could fix timna's MTH and validate it properly in time.

Even if problems were fixed by August 1 and volume wafers started.

That means systems on November 1 at earliest.

Timna's real market is low end and hence back2 school and christmas.

So it makes no sense to continue with Timna and particularly with potential screw ups as well.

IMHO, it was a good descision to delay the product.

The last thing Intel needs is yet another fiasco.
