Jim,

Joshua stank. Over the years between Cyrix selling to National and then to VIA, many of the Cyris people left/were laid off. The design teams were so crippled it's not surprising the product was late/delayed.

Add to that Halla's emphasis on the PCOAC that made a lot of the 'good' designers leave (good designers are those who wanted to build a 'high-end' chip).

Jim,

The FPU should be weak, but the integer should be ok. It could definitely compete with K6-2, especially in the laptop space, due to high clock and low power. 3D graphics performance would be an issue. This is where Duron + SiS will shine.
