Steve - <Maybe AMD wants to get rid of their 1ghz k75s.>

It would seem that the upgrade market for Slot A MB would be interested in the 1 GHz K75s.

Jim,

Maybe so but I found it a little odd that Gateway was offering "Select" models with all thunderbirds except the 1000 Mhz model which is still a K75 core.

Could it be that gateway has a little inventory overhang on the 1ghz athlons? Maybe AMD wants to get rid of their 1ghz k75s. Many possibilities there.

Steve

Jim and Steve,

The inventory is a possibility (they probably paid a lot for those), but I rather opt for the hypothesis that they are slot A TBirds. I suspect slot TBirds to come only from Austin, since they are more used to slot package. So theese are Al chip, and may have binsplit a little under or comparable to K75 at Austin.
