but their real problem is in places where AKAM doesn't go: The Local Loop.

I hear ya, but what I'm experiencing problems with has more to do with what's out there. I can watch a video on the Excite site (obviously cached on their servers) and it runs flawlessly. I can come here to SI and it runs slow as molassas....same with Yahoo at night when everyone else is on. I go to RB and it runs three time as fast as either. Then I can go to Sun's site and download a 70mb software suite in a matter of minutes. This is all on the same night, how could it be my local loop?

Now you tell me....I don't think Sun is on the ATHM backbone, they certainly aren't cached. It's got to be that they have fast servers and plenty of them!

Or they know how to optimize their site for broadband delivery.
