He engages in pseudo-curmudgeonly banter. His sense of humor is much to refined and his sense of fairness is much too developed. It will take another 20 years to get him to an acceptable level of curmudgeonness. Now that he has retired, it could take much longer, with the lack of professional pressure and all.
